What we refer to as headaches may occur very frequently in various areas of the head like for example behind the head, in the upper neck or ears. In addition, headaches are usually not taken as a disease, but rather a symptom of another disease. Causes for headaches are many and these causes could vary from one person to the other. Moreover, as in certain cases the treatment is quite tough, it is important to correctly diagnose the cause of headache.

The exact causes of migraine headaches remain unknown to the medical community, but it is widely held that serotonin levels in the brain play a significant role in the formation of migraine headaches. Low serotonin levels are usually accompanied by a migraine headache.

Hormonal Headaches: Causes and Solutions

Hormonal Headaches are a serious and often times debilitating form of headache that effects only women. Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone are known to be behind hormonal headaches in women. Hormonal headaches are a part of the overall premenstrual cycle, and can begin eleven to seven days before the menstrual cycle. Symptoms of hormonal headaches typically involve fairly serious pain not unlike a migraine, usually accompanied by a sensitivity to light and loud noises. The pain can typically be described as a throbbing like sensation.

Fragrances Cause Headache

Did you know that some smells cause headache?

Its true, the intoxicating or stupefying fragrances of some perfumes and room fresheners are some of the odors, that if you inhale them long enough, you will find that these smells cause headache. This need not be something that you have used on your own body. It can be a perfume that your neighbour has used. So if you sit next to person and feel that your head is getting woozy, try to move to a safe distance away. Maybe 5 or 10 feet away if necessary!
